New Knoxville Rangers Varsity Can’t Catch Up To Houston
New Knoxville Rangers Varsity watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 14-1 loss to Houston on Saturday. Houston scored on a single by Cudwig and a single by Arnold in the first inning.
The New Knoxville Rangers Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Houston, giving up 14 runs.
Houston got things started in the first inning. Cudwig singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
Houston scored eight runs in the fifth inning. Jake Leist, Baltes, John Leist, D Beaver, Arnold, and E Beaver each had RBIs in the frame.
Arnold got the start for Houston. He lasted five innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out seven and walking one.
Brandon Van Gundy toed the rubber for New Knoxville Rangers Varsity. He allowed 14 hits and 14 runs over five innings, striking out four and walking zero.
Ryan Osborne, Jonny Sewell, Brandon Smith, and Austin Bryant each managed one hit to lead New Knoxville Rangers Varsity.
Houston racked up 14 hits in the game. Leist, Arnold, Barker, and Leist all had multiple hits for Houston. Houston was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Beaver had the most chances in the field with eight.
