New Knoxville Rangers Varsity fell behind early and couldn’t come back in an 8-1 loss to Houston on Saturday. Houston took the lead on an error in the second inning.
The New Knoxville Rangers Varsity struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Houston, giving up eight runs.
Houston opened up scoring in the second inning, when an error scored one run for Houston.
Houston scored three runs in the fifth inning. D Beaver and Cudwig each had RBIs in the big inning.
Baltes led things off on the hill for Houston. He allowed six hits and one run over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Jacob Rollins was on the hill for New Knoxville Rangers Varsity. He went five innings, allowing five runs on eight hits, striking out three and walking one. Jonny Sewell threw two innings out of the bullpen.
New Knoxville Rangers Varsity collected six hits. Brandon Smith and Ryan Osborne all managed multiple hits for New Knoxville Rangers Varsity. Osborne and Smith all had two hits to lead New Knoxville Rangers Varsity.
Houston racked up ten hits in the game. John Leist and Barker all had multiple hits for Houston. Leist went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Houston in hits. Houston didn’t commit a single error in the field. Jake Leist had nine chances in the field, the most on the team. Cudwig led Houston with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases.
